Membership Development & Young Skål
Dear Skålleagues,
Who introduced you to Skål? Why did you join? What do you get from being a member?
In 2016, my cousin came to Adelaide to attend the National Conference and suggested I come along and meet all the local and interstate members who would be joining the event. The first time I had heard about Skål International was this first event that I went to, needless to say I enjoyed making new connections and the experience of meeting with likeminded people from the industry.
Since then, I have enjoyed being a part of my local club, contributing to the committee, serving as their club president for 3 years and now in my 3rd year on the National Board. The friendships I have made within Adelaide and indeed Australia and around the world have been humbling and I know I have made friends for life. The ethos of ‘doing business amongst friends’ is not only about leaning into your Skål friends but can be very rewarding if you’re willing to put the effort in.
Whether it is for friendship or for doing business in the industry, Skål is a great melting pot of experience and trusted connections all can benefit from. By simply reaching out to friends and family within the Travel and Tourism industry, you too can build on your opportunities and creating connections to strengthen your membership.
Have a think, who do you know that would benefit from being a Skålleagues…give them a call, send them an email and if they cant make it to Cairns National Assembly, get them to your next local event and lets continue ‘doing Business amongst friends’.
Yours in Skål,
Taylor Spinks
