Dear Skålleagues,

There is so much going on in Skål at Club, National and International level right now, but how can you get the best out of your promotion on social media?

Using hashtags effectively can significantly enhance your Skål Club's social media presence, engagement, and reach. Below are four key strategies to maximise the impact of using hashtags on your social platforms:

Use the Skål-specific Hashtags

There are a number of Skål hashtags that are commonly used on social media posts across the various platforms, including:

#skalinternational

#skalaustralia

#connectingtourismglobally

#doingbusinessamongstfriends

Using these hashtags helps to create a sense of community and makes it easy for members to find and share related content. This in turn will help increase the visibility of your posts to the right audience.

Mix Popular and Skål-specific Hashtags

Using a mix of popular and Skål-specific hashtags can broaden your reach while targeting specific audiences. Popular hashtags like #Travel, #Tourism, and #Networking can attract a broader audience, while the Skål-specific ones connect you with people interested in Skål in particular.

Limit the Number of Hashtags

While it might be tempting to use as many hashtags as possible, it’s often more effective to use a limited number. For platforms like Instagram, using 5-10 relevant hashtags can be ideal, while on LinkedIn and Facebook, 2-4 hashtags are usually sufficient. Overloading your post with hashtags can make it look spammy and reduce engagement. It also confuses the algorithm and your post will be less likely to feature in search results.

Keep it Current

Stay updated with current trends and popular hashtags in the travel and tourism industry. Participating in trending topics and using relevant hashtags can increase your post’s visibility and engagement. For example, during travel industry events or awareness days, use related hashtags to join the conversation.

So give it a go! By incorporating some or all of these hashtag practices, your Skål Club can enhance its social media presence, foster member engagement, and extend its reach in the travel and tourism industry.

Yours in Skål,
